Dress for Success Western Massachusetts hosts ‘Thrift and Thrive’ event
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – ‘Thrift and Thrive’ happened this weekend to support Dress for success Western Massachusetts. This event is the first of its kind and the organization running it provides free professional attire to those in need.
While they have plenty of popular tag sale fundraisers, ‘Thrift and Thrive’ has even more to offer, like jewelry for just a dollar.
The community engagement manager for Dress for Success Diane Jacobs said the event helps young women who might not have the means for business wear, “then once they put on a suit, they just know that they have hit the jackpot. Their whole face lights up. You know, their self-esteem goes up. And the first thing that comes out of my mouth is, their mouth is,‘oh my God, I can’t believe I look like a professional.’ And I’m saying, you are. You are whatever you think you’re going to be. I got goose bumps right now, that’s what I love about my job.”
‘Thrift and Thrive’ started up again on Lyman Street Sunday at noon.
